Beat Moolah

Frequently Asked Questions

Real answers, grounded in exactly how the app actually works — not generic copy.

Is this real money?

No. Every unit is play money ("Moolah Bucks") with no cash value and no way to redeem it. Nothing in the app pays out real prizes. The only real payments in Beat Moolah are optional subscriptions (Premium and creator Weekly Locks) — never anything tied to a pick's outcome.

What's Moolah, the bot?

An AI that picks the spread, total, and moneyline on every single game with its own confidence number and written reasoning. There's no intentional ceiling on how accurate Moolah is meant to be — the target is to win every pick, full stop, even though real sports markets make that unreachable in practice. Its record is fully public and never edited, win or lose.

Why do Moolah Challenge picks have to fade Moolah?

That's the whole premise of the app — the Moolah Challenge measures whether you can beat the bot, so the pick has to be on the opposite side of whatever it took.

What happens if my Moolah Challenge balance hits zero?

It'll top back up to at least $1,000 on the next Monday reset. You're never permanently locked out of the Moolah Challenge.

Why can't I see someone's Weekly Locks?

Locks stay hidden from the public until they're graded, unless you're an active paid subscriber to that person. Once a Lock is graded — win, loss, or push — it becomes public forever, subscriber or not.

What's a push?

Landing exactly on the number (the spread or total) rather than beating it — or, for a moneyline pick, the game ending in a tie. A push refunds the stake and counts as neither a win nor a loss.

What's the difference between Board Picks and Weekly Locks?

Board Picks are capped at 20/week, unstaked, and public the moment you submit them — free, for every single pick. Weekly Locks are capped at 10/week, also unstaked, but hidden until graded unless someone's an active subscriber to you — that's what makes them worth subscribing to.

Can other people see my pending Moolah Challenge picks?

No — Moolah Challenge picks stay hidden from everyone but you until they're graded, the same as Locks. Otherwise people could just copy whoever's doing well risk-free, which would defeat the whole point of the Moolah Challenge being a fair, comparable stat.

How are W/L/P records and units actually tracked?

Every graded pick — Board Pick, Lock, or Moolah Challenge — settles as a win, loss, or push, permanently. Moolah Challenge picks are real play-money stakes (0.5–3.0 units each) that move your actual balance. Board Picks and Locks aren't staked at all, so each one counts as a standardized 1-unit ($100) hypothetical bet — that's what gives them both a record and a profit/loss (net units), comparable across every pick you've ever made, staked or not.

What does Premium actually unlock?

Moolah's Weekly Locks unblurred, Moolah's written reasoning on every pick, Moolah's confidence number on every pick, live line movement history on every game, the ability to sell your own picks to subscribers, and a 100% ad-free app. Making picks, building a public record, and climbing the leaderboard are all free for everyone regardless of Premium.

What are line moves?

Every game has a "line moves" link that shows how its spread, moneyline, and total have moved since they opened — the opening number, the current number, and every change in between on a chart, for either team. It's a Premium feature. Since your pick is locked to the line at the moment you submit it, seeing which way a number is drifting helps you decide when to get in.

How does following people and the Timeline work?

Follow anyone, and their Board Picks show up in your Timeline feed as they make them, newest first — plus Lock activity from creators who sell Weekly Locks. Subscribers see those Locks; everyone else sees how many were submitted, blurred, with a Subscribe button that opens that creator's profile. When a pick is graded, the same post updates to show whether it won, lost, or pushed, and how many units it won or lost (each pick counts as a 1-unit bet). The newest 100 picks load first, and older ones load as you scroll. Your Timeline also highlights any win at +300 odds or longer from people you follow, and shows a weekly recap of how they did (this week and last week). Use the search bar at the top of the Timeline to find anyone by username or name and see just their posts and activity; tap Clear to go back to your feed.

How do I post, comment, like, and repost?

Tap the pencil on the Timeline (or "New post" on your profile's Posts tab) to write a post — up to 280 characters, no links. The first time you post or comment, you'll be asked to agree to our community rules (zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users). Under every post, and every pick submission, big win, and weekly recap, you'll find ♡ like, ⟲ repost, and 💬 comment. Comments open in a panel at the bottom of the screen and can be liked and replied to; anyone who can see the post can join in, whether or not they follow you. A repost shares a post with your followers — and reposting your own post (once) bumps it back to the top of their Timelines. Weekly Locks can be liked and commented on only by that creator's subscribers, and can never be reposted. You can edit a post once from its ··· menu: it's marked “Edited,” and anyone can tap View original to see what it said before. To change it again, delete it and post a new one.

What are Timeline Alerts?

Tap the 🔔 next to "Following" on someone's profile to get a notification whenever they post or submit picks. You have to follow someone to turn on their alerts, and unfollowing turns them off. Their first post sends a push right away; anything else they post in the next 15 minutes comes as one summary push when that window ends ("@mike posted 2 more times"), so you never get flooded. Every post also lands in your Inbox.

How do notifications work, and how do I turn them off?

Open the sidebar and tap Notifications. The main switch turns push notifications on or off for your phone, and separate switches cover pick results, reminders, Challenge progress, weekly top-ups, the leaderboard, creator updates, Timeline Alerts, likes/reposts/comments, and new followers. Likes, comments, reposts, and new followers are grouped into one push — the first about 30 minutes after the activity starts, then at most once an hour. Your Inbox always shows everything, grouped the same way ("6 likes on your post"), whatever you choose for push.

How do I report, block, or mute someone?

Tap ··· on any post or comment. Report sends it to our team, who review reports promptly — typically within 24 hours — and remove content and suspend accounts that break our rules. Mute hides that person's posts and reposts from your Timeline but still shows their picks. Block hides you from each other completely: you won't see each other's posts or comments, and they can't comment on yours. Blocks and mutes are private — the other person isn't told. To see everyone you've blocked or muted, or to undo it, go to Settings → Privacy → Blocked accounts or Muted accounts.

Can I delete a post or comment?

Yes — tap ··· on your own post or comment and choose Delete (or Edit post, once, for a post). You can also delete comments other people leave on your posts. Pick activity (your Board Picks, Locks, big wins, and recaps) can't be deleted, the same way picks themselves can't be changed once submitted.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On the Log In screen, tap Forgot password — or, if you're signed in, go to Settings and tap “Forgot your password? Reset it by email” at the bottom. We'll email you a reset link. Open it on your phone and tap Reset password: the app opens so you can type a new password twice. The link works once and expires shortly; if it's expired, just request a new one.

How is the Leaderboard ranked?

By Moolah Challenge performance only — Locks and Board Picks don't count toward it. "Season Leaders" ranks by current balance for the season you've selected; "Hot Streaks" ranks by consecutive Moolah Challenge wins since your last loss (a push doesn't break a streak, but doesn't add to it either). Use the season picker to check a past season's frozen final standings instead of the live one.

Can I edit or delete a pick after submitting?

No — once submitted, a pick can't be changed or removed. Review it carefully before confirming.

How do I sell my picks?

Selling picks is a Premium feature. Once you're Premium, open the sidebar menu and tap "Sell Your Picks" — that takes you through a short Stripe Connect signup (identity, bank account) so you can actually receive payouts, and once that's done you set your own price and activate your tier. Subscribers still pay entirely through Apple's in-app purchase, never a card form in the app. You can pause selling at any time — existing subscribers keep their subscription at the price they signed up for, completely unaffected, until they personally cancel; pausing only hides your tier from new subscribers.

How much does Beat Moolah take from creator subscriptions?

Beat Moolah takes 30% and Apple takes 15%, so creators keep 55%. It's deducted automatically before you ever see the money — nothing extra charged to subscribers, nothing to invoice.

How do I get paid as a creator?

Subscribers pay through Apple's in-app purchase — never a card form inside this app. Apple remits its share to Beat Moolah, and Beat Moolah pays your share out via Stripe Connect to your bank account. You set up a Stripe Connect account once, just for receiving payouts, when you first go to sell picks.

When and how often do I get paid?

Payouts are processed on the 1st business day of every month for the previous month's earnings, and can take up to 72 hours to arrive in your bank account. If a month's payout would be under $10, it carries forward and combines with the next month's instead of firing on its own. You can see your running balance, active subscribers, and full payout history any time on your Earnings page in the app, or by logging in on the web.
